Poi balls were originally used in the Maori performance art of Poi, whereby a ball or balls is suspended from a length of flexible material held in the hand and swung in circular patterns.
These balls can be used both as a spinning ball game or, as we use them, part of your child's sensory box.
The Poi ball is approx. 7.5cm in diameter and is attached to a long cord of approx. 35cm, with an extra 9.5cm of finger grip material. When the button is pressed, the ball progresses through one of 7 colour combinations. They can either stay the one colour or move through all 6 colours slowly.
The balls are fun to spin around, especially in a darkened room with the colour lights on; attached to a sensory board or hung up like a mobile in a bedroom
Balls come with button cell batteries, and the batteries can be replaced. Suitable for children from 5 years, due to the length of the cord, though younger children can enjoy the ball if supervised.
We recommend not to leave children unattended as the cord could prove a choking hazard. Cords can be cut off without damaging the ball.
