Weighted Products

Weighted sensory products provide proprioceptive input creating stability, increased body awareness, and calming benefits for improved attention, focus, and concentration for many children and adults with special needs. In many cases, weighted sensory products can be effective in helping calm overly stimulated children with sensory needs.

Weighted sensory products, under the guidance and supervision of a qualified Occupational Therapist, have been shown to help meet the needs of children with Autism, Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Angelman syndrome, Apraxia, Aspergers syndrome (AS), Ataxia, Cerebral Palsy, Down syndrome, Dyslexia, Fetal Alcohol syndrome (FAS), Hypotonia, Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD-NOS), Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS), Rett syndrome, Sensory Integration Disorder (SID), and Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD).

It is recommended any weighted item should be less than 10% of a person's body weight. Once again, always seek advise from your trained specialist.
